Meaning
Surya is praised as the light of the world, a witness to action and a source of wellbeing. The verses gather solar images—many rays, the lotus opening to sunlight, gold and the seven-horse chariot. Names from sacred tradition connect that visible brilliance with a larger divine presence.
Musical context
The fourteen-count Chatusra Dhruva cycle has the structure 4 + 2 + 4 + 4. The accumulating epithets can be followed as a sequence of images while the long cycle continues underneath.
