Meaning
Tyagaraja describes seeing Rama upon a hill, surrounded by attendants who serve him with fans. The vision brings an intensely bodily response: joy, tears and an urgent wish to speak. Rama's assurance of protection answers the devotee's agitation. The poem is best encountered first as this direct account of seeing and reassurance; its emotional centre is the meeting between an overwhelmed devotee and the Lord he has longed to behold.
