Drutam

A two-count tala anga: clap, then wave.

Drutam consists of a clap followed by a wave of the hand. Each action takes one primary count, making two in all. Its symbol is O.

Example

Adi tala ends with two drutams: clap–wave | clap–wave. Together they occupy counts 5–8.

The two-count length is fixed. Jati changes the laghu, not the drutam.
